Not so newbe looking to get back into star gazing

Hi all,
I've decided to get back into star gazing after a period of 10 years, I had a Celestron C8 for a few years in the late 1990's but I just could not get the hang of polar aligning and became frustrated with it and found the scope not very portable and ended up selling it in 1999. I kept up my interest via desktop astronomy but have now decided to get back outdoors.
After a bit of research I was seriously looking at the Celestron NexStar series when I stumbled upon the new Meade ETX-LS6ACF, this scope looks like everything I've been looking for, Auto alignment, portability and just about auto everything, I had a quick demo at the shop and was impressed in what I saw.
My question is does anyone have one or used one in the field? and what do you think of it?
Also I want to use it for a bit of astrophotgraphy?

Cheers
