"Birds Impactor" 22nd July
Hi All,
Imaged the transit of "Birds Impactor" last night 22nd July from 12:37 UTC to 15:15 UTC.
The seeing was variable averaging about 6/10. Due to the variability I concentrated my efforts on capturing mainly R channel avi data. This allowed me to take longer avi's, capturing more data and thus higher resolution than is the case when trying to capture all three channels in three minutes.
My 18 R channel avi's are all 800 Mb files of 2,700 frames. For my 3 sets of RGB's each avi file was 360 Mb and 1,210 frames.
Due to the amount of data I have not used virtual dub or ninox, only Registax V5, Astra Image Pro and CS4.
My R channel images are the best 700 of 2,700 frames for each avi and my RGB images are the best 500 of 1,210 frames from their avi's.
My 16" F4.5 Gem Newt was working at F 23.6 and my 3x TV Barlow was working at 5.3x.
Image 1. Is the best RGB of my 3.
Image 2. Is one of the best R channel images and was taken at 13:25 UTC CMII 209 degrees, South is up and West is to the right, Ganymede is to the left. Actually the rest of my R channel images are as good as this one but Birds Impactor is better positioned in this one.
Image 3, Is a crop of Birds Impactor from Image 2 that has been resized by 100%.
I will post my animation when the IIS FTP server is sorted out, it represents the best 11,200 frames of 43,200.
Thanks for looking.
PS: If there are any errors in this post it's due to sleep depredation.
Regards
Trevor
