I had read that the air in NZ tends to be quite clean and clear. In transparent skies, I have often been fooled by hills and mountains that appear to be close but in fact are much further away than the eye leads one to believe.
No doubt Gary Beal will drop in here sometime soon, extolling the virtues of the NZ skies! LOL!
