Hi Dennis.

I'd hazard a guess and say they were around 5-10km from my vantage point.

The highest point in the range is Double Cone at 2340 metres.

According to Wikipedia, they are named The Remarkables because they are one of only two mountain ranges in the world which run directly north to south.
