Like you I had previously followed Barry's instructions to the letter but still had problems updating to v0.10.3 that were not related to my video card.
Now in this thread Barry mentions the ssystem.ini file and the Stars.ini files as possible problems.
Unfortunately, I still do not fully understand what he means by a "clean, working installation".
Thankfully by erasing all prior Stellarium files I was able to install v 0.10.3 and now have no problems. The Modules are all working and I am also happily writing educational scripts.
