I've had binocs like yours for a long, long time, and still regularlly use them! I need to as the the light pollution in Sydney means it's the only way to see all the stars listed in star charts,

You could get your hands on a tripod mounting adapter for your binoculars. Don't undersestimate their worth as a telescopic instrument. They provide a wide field view no other telescope can provide. They really, really come into their own at a dark sky site!
