Hi Mark

Like your work, very nice drawings indeed.

This is one form of recording astro detail that seems to be all but forgotten.

I think there is considerable detail that a skilled observer, as you obviously are, that can be recorded of most types of astro objects.

The drawings by the Herschel's and the Earl of Rosse stand as testament to this form of recording an image.
A few years ago Risto Heikklila visited me from Finland, he came with a list of Southern Hemisphere object he wanted to observe and he drew them at the eyepiece with a selection of various grades of pencil and a soft rubber. His drawings were excellent and in some cases were better representations than images of the same object. The effect of bright stars washing out part of a DSO were not an issue for Risto, he just drew the object as it appeared at the eyepiece, all of the structure and detail.

Anyway thanks for posting your drawings and adding a different perspective to recording data.

Regards
Trevor
