I turned 49 last week. The last time I pulled on the boots in anger was for North Narrabeen in the under 9's, however this season I joined the Bonnet Bay over 45B's team. That's a 40 year sabatical. A lot of rust to get out of the system but I love every minute of it. The body took a lot of recovering from my first couple of games but the last few have left me with very few aches & pains. Luckily no injuries as yet.
So in answer to your questions:-
(a) Can't tell you whether to give up because of your age as you have neglected to announce your age, however I would say no anyway. If you enjoy it and can contribute to the team then keep going.
(b) Yes you should play on Saturday as the prisoners will no doubt have leg irons on and this will increase your chances of winning.
