That's horrid Rob, very sad news. I hope they catch the mongrel(s) that did this to you. I hope you'll get your scope back, good luck.

Pawn shops don't care, and the court system doesn't care. I'll tell you a story - years ago, my father's tool shed was broken into. $500 gear of tools stolen. Police caught the mongrel. It was his 4th offence (stealing) and he had drug offences on top of that. What did he get? A lousy 200 hours community service. Worse, the ******* had a court case pending for compensation against a previous break and enter attempt where he got caught by the owner and had the **** kicked out of him. Bugger won that case and walked away with $160k. You gotta be bloody kidding me!

I have a simply solution to theft:

First offence, take a finger off.

Second offence, take another finger off.

3rd offence, take the hand off.

4th offence, take the 2nd hand off.

Legislate that those who have lost fingers or hands due to stealing are unable to claim social security payments.

I guarantee that this will solve crime issues in under ten years.

Dave

edit: it saves on money spent and wasted on jail systems, and it stops the mongrels milking the welfare system, letting genuine Australians use the system. It sends a strong moral message to these mongrels that stealing is simply not OK. I might sound mean, but sometimes, these buggers don't deserve any pity.
