I think the biggest problem is many people do not understand the nature of science or scientific method (which I am trying to defend here) but would rather cling to facts and truths rather than accept uncertainty. Did a science degree years ago but ended up as a maths/computing teacher with a spattering of science. The irony is my two daughters have absolutely no interest in it and are absorbed in the Visual Arts.
