Yes APOs are extremely expensive. But then RC type scopes are also very expensive. A smaller aperture APO will do a better job on wide field.
Aperture rules when doing galaxies though.

well its installed and running, will see if it brings up the goods. the galaxy in this post is the LAST image with aperture (12 inch ) for me, 5 will do just fine for now.
THE 12 INCH HAS RETIRED. !!!!!
