Great movie, superb cinemaphotography with interesting and very different camera shots and action scenes. Lots of light and brightness in the scenes rather than the cheaper to make dark dim shots that plague some movies when they are on a budget.
I agree effects were on a new level and acting was good as well. A bit of humour without the corny one-liners many US movies specialise in.
Also some interesting sets in how they set out the ship and parts looked very industrial which is very believable on a large ship but the computer
consoles and displays had more of a believable future look to them. Also some nice retro controls that looked like engine controls off a large ship. So nice mix of future, retro and industrial. I also thought it was smart to show the shuttles hills as looking very worn like they are used a lot and roughly - again very realistic.
The best Trek movie so far and better than Generations which I thought was the best before this one.
