Chris - the SFX were good, but not outstanding. SFX is something I've followed for a good number of years. I'm not saying they were bad, I just expected more. Compare this movie to Revenge of the Sith and you'll know what I mean.
Barry - yes, the story was weak in many aspects. As I said to someone else, kids are leaving the sciences in droves, it's bad enough without 'bad science' adding to it. There's a reason why it's called science fiction - it has an element of science in it. And accurate science. Yes, I know it has the word fiction in it as well, which obviously allows some lateral movement in the accuracy of the science content, but I felt the movie went beyond it.
Still, it was a thoroughly enjoyable movie and I would go watch it again, and will be buying the DVD.
