and this is the sort of closed thought process that has QLD about a 100 years behind the rest of the country in a wide variety of issues...

Not having daylight savings time in QLD makes it difficult for businesses with premises in QLD to deal with the rest of the country. That costs money. Then there's the issue of customers...as an example, the last company I worked for offered support from 9-5 AEDST - for those in QLD, you missed out (you're on stupid fault I might add). I wasn't keeping the helpdesk open for another hour just to satisfy the many idiotic country bumpkins that inhabit this state.
