I made this photograph on a very cold morning at Boyd Creek, just prior to the sun rising above the mountainside.
My clothes all dirty from the boggy land surrounding this cascade, my shoes and socks wet, my fingers going numb, and snot crystallizing on my top lip... I think it was worth it -- once again, the quality of light is everything.
For all my troubles, I did, however, make a friend that morning. As I made my way down to the creek, a little bird kept following me. He posed for me and I took several shots of him, which I'll post later. He stayed with me throughout my time at the creek.
