Yep - and when I was doing my HSC in 1980 we had the choice of studying The Tempest in its traditional form, or taking the movie route. It wasn't a real hard choice.

It's still my favourite film of all time.
If they do a remake, then that's OK - however good or not it turns out, it won't ever take away from the original. Actually, I'll generalise here and suggest that remakes are all OK - as we're not being told as such that the original is being replaced, and won't have access to it any more. Often as not, a remake will re-kindle interest in the original, so this is good too. I can't imagine that a large percentage of the young movie-going public has even heard of the original Forbidden Planet. Maybe a remake will prompt some to watch the original as well.
