Definitely take camera/tripod and lappy - everyone takes the lappy these days - who calls us geeky!!!!! I have bought a baby lappy to take to Italy in October
Dont know about the little scope - may be more hassle than its worth
But, wow,
have a wonderful time .... stay away from trouble over there, looks a bit scary of late
