I think your missing out to be honest. If the technology is available and affordable, use it. Seeing what jeannies GStar can do is simply astounding. I'm pretty sure the keck scope has no eyepiece either.
Don't pay for old hubble photos, they are on line. I saw a news item the other day that the new scope is in orbit and operational.
Kepler? I believe it's looking for planets in other solar systems so the FL must be huge. It definately uses a camera
