I think it is a good idea, atleast it is a place people can look that are interested.
When i first log on i always hit "New Posts" so so i can look at all the latest threads no matter where they are posted, then i can just read the one's that interest me, when done i hit "mark All Threads Read" link at the bottom so i never realy know where the threads are listed.
