We just got from day 2 of NEAF...I took both of my sons (Cam and Tom) and they made out like bandits.
Tom recieved a finderscope from Vic Maris at Stellarvue telescopes, he was dressed as Galileo at the time (and speaking in an Italian accent). You may read other places more about this, Craig from OPT arrived soon after dressed as the Pope (from 400 years ago) and chased Galileo (Vic) around the show...it was great fun!
Cam won a pair of binoculars in the "kids draw"...
I won 100 lottery "scratchy" cards from the Adirondack Public Observatory raffle and am hoping for a winner to pay for the gear I bought!
I broke open my dusty and moldy wallet and bought an APM 130/780 mm refracting telescope... (blurb below)
130mm f/6 Super APO triplet is made by LZOS.
Features a 2.5" Feathertouch focuser and sliding drawtube.
It is supposed to be great for visual work, binoviewers and light duty astrophotography!
I've attached the stock photo...it is the TMB designed system.
I also got a diagonal and an Alt/Az mount for it as well...
It looks very pretty and as is standard for new Astro purchases it is clouding up fast and I will be out of town all week so it will be at least a week before I get first light.
I suspect that this will be the last telescope that I buy for a while...
Anyway, if you get a chance to every get to NEAF I highly encourage you to do so...it is a great show!
