Greetings everyone. I'm new to this place, but have had a long standing interest in astronomy.
I have never owned a telescope, but did buy myself a good pair of binoculars about 6-7 years ago and started star-gazing. I was sorely tempted to buy a telescope back when I got the bino's but resisted the almost over-powering urge (thanks mainly to advice from others).
I have 2 young children so astronomy, like many things after children, has taken a back seat and I haven't used my bino's for nearly 3 years (and after 2 moves I am unable to find them
). Last week I decided to take my eldest son (he's 5) to the Newcastle Astronomical Society viewing night and see if he was interested.
To cut a short story even shorter, he was fascinated and loved it. So, the time has come for me to re-enter the world of astronomy. This time I am buying a telescope! I will not be denied!
ATM my thinking is an 8 inch Dob, maybe a 10 inch if the price is right.
Anyways, I'm sure I will be around asking lots of questions.
