Hey Robh,
I read your post and with out seeing the problem first hand it sounds that you may have a number of trojens and various other infections.

I use AVG free and used to change fire walls from time to time. That doesn't appear necessary any more. AVG updates daily and I have very little if any trouble. AVG is available to download. Just google it.

Whatever protection devices you use it needs to be updated at least once a week. There are those puter vandals out there. Vandals who get by a victim's protection and perform nasty things to their software; makes them feel powerful.

They study how to get by the latest virus busters or protection.

I had a clever infection once. It erased all protection off my system. Mc-Afee, Dr. Norton and whatever, name it, it was gone.

I had a virus buster that was hardly known. It did the job on the virus and I reinstalled and all was well again.

So what Kal (Andrew) posted was really good advice. He does know what He is talking about.
