Parramatta Observatory

Hi All,
This is my first post.
I have some exciting news about my "little" Parramatta Observatory obsession.
There will be an archaeological dig at the Parramatta Observatory site. Think of our own mini version of `Time Team’.
  • Date and time of dig – Friday 17th, Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th April, during business hours.
  • The archaeologist is Anne Bickford of Archaeology & Heritage, Sydney. She previously conducted a limited investigation, in 1988, which located the observatory building corners.
  • Proposal: To investigate and confirm the footings of the original observatory buildings and the remnant telescope piers through an exploratory investigation of the site.
  • Public, viewing only. Sorry guys, that means no digging for us.
  • Daily talks with the archaeologist at 11 am and 2 pm (about 20 - 30 mins each)
  • Contact details - Parramatta Park Trust 8833 5000
  • Price – Free
  • On Saturday May 2nd, archaeologist Anne Bickford and a colleague will attend the Sky Viewing at Parramatta Park and make a presentation on the archaeological outcome.
Best regards,
Sharonr :-)
