All the doom and gloom in the movies in this thread don't sound good. What is the point of just blowing up, being consumed by Aliens or having a big rock land on our head?

You know, the more I think about this movie, the more fondly I remember it!
It was a great (yet affectionate) satire on Flash Gordon that had a bizarre yet hilarious plot. The fx were actually quite good and there was a heap of....um....other stuff in it as well.
I think I was about 17 or 18 when I first saw this film. A mate and I took these two girls to see it on a first date, not really knowing what it was going to be about.
The mate and I nearly died laughing! First and last date with this pair. They both refused to have anything to do with us ever again.
Still brings a smile to my face!
