Rob. To be blunt, not a great pic, but I appreciate your willingness to learn.

Focus. Focus...and did I mention focus? This is the one thing you can spend time on to absolutely nail. IMHO, near enough is not good enough.

Polar alignment and tracking/guiding are also very important.

Plus the scope looks like its need collimination. (see manual)

Smoothing (to reduce noise?) too aggressive.

Seeing may have been average to crappy (Lords knows, I've been there! ) not much you can do there other than wait for a better night.

Also, do a little research on the web. There are dozens of images of most objects, see how they were captured with similar rigs, and see if you can emulate what has been done elsewhere.
