Thanks all
The MPCC has no effect at all on focal length, as it simply takes the place of a normal 2 inch nosepiece, so backfocus is the same. I cannot speak highly enough of the MPCC. Its optomised for systems of F4 to F6 I believe. It also removes most of the coma on my 6 inch f3.6 SN. It screws into the T adaptor of any slr camera, in fact that then maintains correct distance to the sensor.
A well collimated Newtonian with the MPCC can perform like those horrendously expensive fast ASA astrographs, just a few stops slower but like the ASA, flat, sharp fields. There is a special attachmant available from Baader that allows one to use the MPCC with eyepieces for visual observing. Imagine that on an Ethos eyepiece on a big, fast dob.
The MPCC would go great with dual chip CCD cameras too, as the flat field would allow nice sharp guidestars for the guide chip.
Yep, Glenc I heard that too, its now classified as a nebula rather than planetary.
