Nice selections there folks - a great scifi filmography already...
I almost peed myself in fright at Alien (as a 12 yr old) AND at Event Horizon (at 29yrs!) ... yep - too much info eh.
I tip my hat to Serenity (big FireFly fan here). I was happy the scifi-western was recognised & accoladed with cinema-release.
Loved Contact (the book was better - Carl Sagan was my boyhood hero).
I plead your forgiveness for really enjoying the pseudo-science scifi/disaster The Core.
My top pick is a tie - BladeRunner (both cinematic releases for narrative & mood reasons) AND Babylon5 (I persisted and was swept up by the grand, intricate story arcs).
