Hi Gang,
For me I guess it has to be the classic "Fiend Without A face" for sci-fi, some of those special effects are pretty amazing and pretty scary for an old film! Followed by This Island Earth, When Worlds Collide, Forbidden Planet, War Of The Worlds (Gene Berry) and the classic Thing From Another World. I like older films and there are just so many classics to choose from.
As for disaster movies, it has to be a toss up between the drama of The Towering Inferno and the special effects of Meteor. I think I'll plump for Meteor. I also am a big fan of natural disaster movies such as Twister (Helen Hunt, need I say more!!!) Volanoe and Dantes Peak.
