I don't think you need to be rich to enjoy your stay in gaol.
Read some of the perks that prisoners get these days including private hospital treatment. As well as instruction on how to not get caught when they get out!
My solution is to do away with jails as they are today. Chain gangs is the solution for redeemables and execution for the non redeemables. Think of the money that we could save.
