New to this hobby, but I am having a ball with a very limited Powerseeker 60AZ.
That said, I did manage to stumble upon Saturn last night, and was able to clearly discern the (edge-on) rings - WOW!
Which clubs are nearby to me (I'm in the Budgewoi area), that would allow me to get a look through a few different scopes before I buy mine?
Truth be told, I am torn at the moment ... At the moment, I am more than happy to spin the scope, and look at where she lands, and be contect with just going ... "Awesome!" But I am certain that this will change eventually, and I will want to get into some form of astrophotography sooner than later.
From just my reading of this forum, AS+T magazine, and a couple of Google searches, my initial thoughts are to either go for a 10/12-inch Dob, or something like a Celestron NexStar 6/8e.
I realise that each has their limitations for my potential requirements, and I need to be certain that what I get, I can use for the foreseeable future.
One advantage of being where I am, is that I am fairly equidistant from both Gosford and Newcastle.
