They're usually placed in the caddy of a filter wheel by screwing them into the holes in the caddy. They're then attached to your scope followed by your camera.....all with the appropriate extenders, T-rings etc, to allow your camera to achieve focus on your scope.
That all attaches to the end of the scope you observe through....naturally enough, you can't observe through there when imagining.
