Great sight last night.

3am, out doing some water conservation. Stumbled outside, kept eyes closed, look up, one huge Bat, see them quite often.

A few seconds later, staring almost at 45 degrees and east, getting my bearings, a white light lit the treetops to my left moving right for a second, then a huge white flash that lit up everything for another second was to my right, slightly behind me for another second. As usual, in my confused state I initially thought it was a car headlight, then realised that it would have to be a very tall car!

A verandah above me was in the way, so I moved out and looked around. I realised then that the trail must have been above me and obscured by the verandah. Luckily it has a clear roof, so all was not lost.

Roughly between Saturn and Canopus (Stellarium) was a white streak, resembling train tracks. I held my hands up high and at arms reach, the trail was a good foot long. It remained for about 10 seconds then faded out. It was soooo high up, when the initial event seemed to be so low. I expect something crashed into the ocean somewhere.

It was interesting to note that it wasnt an optical memory, as I hadnt seen the actual trail.

I dont normally stand under the verandah and wont do so again!
