My hubby has the attention span of a gnat when it comes to astronomy. To him, a grouping of observers is called a Geekfest. The kids ( 7+8yrs) are a bit better, and enjoy looking at the sun, moon, planets. I'm encouraging them to sketch what they see.
But financially, I have to fund this hobby myself, by selling off one of my other hobbies. Anyone want to buy a horse?
Husband and I don't mind allowing each other childfree time to pursue our individual interests. Eg. He'll look after the kids so I can go to a geekfest for a weekend, and I'll do the same if he wants to go to Brissie for a weekend of footy.
Neither of us would dream of stopping each other from enjoying their interests.
