Connecting a second monitor should be fairly straight forward. If you have a laptop, then it should already have a second monitor port, otherwise you can get a splitter from Dick Smith/Tandy/AZTronics etc. For the keyboard & mouse, most PC's won't cope with 2 different inputs so maybe a commercial wireless keyboard/mouse system such as would get used in a lecture theatre. These have a great range and should cope with multistories provided you don't have too much interference in the house. You'll need to contact a serious A?V supplier for that and they aren't cheap.
