SOLD - 6 inch (152mm) Maksutov Cassegrain OTA @ f12.5

SCOPE SOLD - THanks

As the scope doesn't include mounting rings and is local pickup only, I'm dropping the price to $350.

6 inch Mak - Tube only - mounting rings & dovetail NOT included. The dovetail bar was removed (see photos - tape is covering the holes where the dovetail was removed).

I am selling this excellent tube as I have too many scopes and need to finance a mount upgrade. The optics are very good on this scope and it is collimated and holds collimation well. During ccd imaging, there is a small amount of mirror shift (at higher magnificaitons using ccds smaller than 6mm dia. (equivalent to <6mm eyepiece) a jupiter in diameter shift of image sometimes occurs - this is inherehent to most cassegrain scopes due to mirror shift of the focuser).

With a system focal length of 1900mm (152mm x f/12.5), this telescope tube is well suited as a planetary scope and also performs well for many deep sky objects.

I customised this tube by replacing the visual back with a 2 inch visual back so standard 2inch accessories can be used. I have kept this scope encased and covered in a clean smoke free environment.

Visually this scope is excellent .. Omega Centauari is nice & well resolved in this scope even from suburban Sydney. Jupiter is impressive with razor-sharp detail seen on the bands at 200x magnification (I have pushed the mag. as high as 300+ on clearer nights but am usually limited by Sydney’s light glow..) This scope holds collimation well.

Looking with a 15-led torch test shows small amount of micro-dust on the optics and doesn't affect performance in any way.

It has always been stored securely with seals/ dust caps in place.

Scope includes 2 inch visual back, 2 inch skylight (clear non-reflective) filter always inserted into the visual back.. Included is front dust-cap, 2 inch-to-1.25 inch adapter (nice brass compression ring kind).

Also includes nice red dot finder scope which mounts easily with 2 thumbscrews (see photo). Where you see the tape in the photos don't worry - nothing is bodgy - i just put tape over the 2in. thumbscrews to stop myself accidentally loosening them instead of the 1.25 in. eyepiece thumbscrew - same for the RDF - the on/off switch - these bits of tape can be removed easily without any trouble if the user prefers..

$350 local pickup only (on lower north shore)
