Being basically brain-dead in the electronics department, I can tell you only this: The stepper is from a really old electronic typewriter. A step-syn 6V 1.2A 1.8 deg/step by sanyo denki.
The controller was built using this curcuit in the pic. Thanks to Laurie for supplying the curcuit diagram.
Not sure if it will be suitable yet, the motor takes rather big steps. But we'll see what happens after I fit it.
