Hi Peter,
Yes its never going to be a 14.5 inch type resolution but I am happy for now with this approach given my situation of driving 3.5 hours when I can get away to uncertain weather this last year. Also with longer exposure times the detail also goes up.
The stars I ended up using a bit of Gaussian blur as I have started using deconvolution on all the subs and they seemed a bit harsh in the end so I softened them a tad. Also this camera will oversaturate on brighter stars more quickly than other cameras due to its small well capacity. I guess all CCDs have their compromise and that is this ones. Overall an excellent CCD with its strengths in its sensitivity, relatively high QE at 60% and extremely clean and defect free.
A 17 inch Planewave CDK would be hot but a remote internet controlled site really requries permanent power and someone on site in case something doesn't work as planned so that is not really practical.
Seeing was excellent which it often is there as we had a high around the area.
I am thinking of another angle to extract more out of the BRC. Yet to be determined.
The TEC180 I think will give higher resolution although longer exposure times.
Greg.
