Thumbs up Now we're glowing!

Thanks to all who responded to my previous thread about glo-wire type illumination of an observing area. I have now finished my Christmas project in my observatory: Installing glo-wire!

I was given 9m of Glo-Wire for Christmas to install around the edge of the open half of my observatory. It's worked a treat! Looks awsome!

I first glued the glowire to the under side of lengths of 19mm x 19mm x 2m 90 degree aluminium rods. This is to shield the glowire from my eyes. I then painted the metal skirting of the observatory a light colour (same colour as internal half walls), attached the aluminium rods to the walls with pop-rivets and then finally gave the top a coat of a darker paint (also used elsewhere in the observatory). The end result is great!

You can't see the glo-wire directly from anywhere in the observatory, it's completely shielded being only about 10cm off the floor and covered by the aluminium rods. The glow down on to the wall and carpet is a perfect gentle red which is comfortable to the eye.

I'm really happy with the finished product, looks awsome and will mean visitor to my observatory will hopefully not bump in to as many things!

(sorry about the poor stitching of the panoramic)

Oh, I also got a new illuminated keyboard from JayCar which is cool
