Went and saw it a few days ago.

Judged on its own merits, I'd put it in the average category....but using the original as a yardstick, it was below par.

I also felt they skewed the story.

It also felt rushed after about the halfway mark. I find this quite common among today's 'blockbusters'. The build-up is often quite good...but then it's all ruined with tons of CGI 'shoot-em-up' effects and a mad scramble to wrap the film up.

I did like the idea of the nano-bot-type technology....and the concept that the human race does not 'own' the Earth, and that the planet's survival is far more important in the grand cosmic scheme of things than that of the human race.
