From what I have read there are two breeds of Meade s4000 plossls.
The older ones made in Japan are said to be excellent, whilst the newer made in China ones as said to be on a par with typical Chinese plossls.
If it was my money I would be sourcing some of the 5 element Japanese types aka Celestron Ultima , orion ultrascopics, Antares ultimas from OS.
