I haven't seen I am legend yet, but I'm sure it's in the christmas stocking; The Omega Man was also one of my favorites. Will Smith and Reeves are a couple of my fav actors so hopefully they should be good.
ps. Who had that avatar of Gort, the Robot from Tdtess?

I personally thought that I Am Legend was an abysmal film. I'd initially had high hopes for it too, given that they'd reverted to the original title of Matheson's great book.
Those who may think that I'm hung up on the book are probably right, although anyone who troubles to read the book may well see where I'm coming from.
The Omega Man wasn't, in my humble opinion, a very good adaption, but it was at least an enjoyable film.
An even earlier adaption was The Last Man, starring Vincent Price(!) as the lead character which was ..um.. different.
Having endured I Am Legend, you'd have to strap me into a cinema seat with a straitjacket and eyeclamps (a la Clockwork Orange) to get me to watch the forthcoming prequel.
"New" does not always equal "good", sadly.
Still and all, I'll be going to see the new DTESS. The original was such a strong story that it's difficult to see how they could stuff it up.
(But then I remember I Am Legend,

and icey fingers of fear slither and contract around my palpitating heart.)
