Whats the OS. 95, 2000, NT, XP, VISTA ????
At the starting windows sceen in DOS press F8 to bring up the menu and go in on safe mode. Once in this run the AV and see what it picks up. Failing that if their is a file missing then get a PC with the same OS and copy the file from one PC to the other and try that.
Going in on safe mode bypasses the start up script and usually viruses put them selfs in the start up script.
