The Gum Nebula

Axel Mellinger took this image of the Gum Nebula.

I can see part of it when I sweep from gamma Vel to delta Vel with a UHC filter.

The large (85' x 22') dark nebula nearly half way between gamma Vel and delta Vel is FeSt1-71. (It is 3.1 deg from gamma)
It was catalogued by Feitzinger and Stuwe in 1984. http://www.strw.leidenuniv.nl/~stuwe/AuASSv58p365y1984.pdf
This catalogue is the southern extension of Lynds' Catalogue of Dark Nebulae.
