NGC 1435 (the Merope nebula) is an easy object. I can see it with 20x80s and with my 12".
Merope is the top right star in this image by Chris (cwjames): http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/a...8&d=1200141061
and NGC 1435 is above it.
