Thank you Steve. Good advice.
That's exactly why I am online asking. I am humble enough to realise that I am not an expert at anything, however, having some common sense I know enough to protect myself and attemt these things in a safe and logical manner.

I am merely trying to get a feel for what these two wires may be before I go ripping apart a beautiful pair of lights. In many cases, these things can be simple and someone with the "right" knowledge, like a qualified sparky, may be able to give me a simple answer.

If, per se, the thing turns out to be too complicated or dangerous, then I will just get a sparky to do it.

I am always one to learn things and give them a go though. If I wasnt, I wouldnt have built an observatory on my own, learned to take astrophotos on my own etc
