Hiya all, Quoting from my 'old' Meade cataldog, the 16" DOB specs are as follows, 16" Pyrex mirror, Tube Diam. = 19", spiral wound Sonotube, Length = 66", f4.5, fl = 1830 mm, Resolving power = 0.28 A/Sec, Limiting Visual Mag = 15.6, Photographic mag = 18.1, (not sure about that), Max mag = 600 X, 2ndary Mirror minor axis = 4.00", DOB Base diam = 33.6", Total weight = 170 lbs.
One of our members had one a few years ago. WOW, the views were just great! (but, he had a Holden 1 ton T/top at the time).
If the new GS Dob is anything like this, then you will definitely need a large vehicle to transport it for sure!
