The green blob is due internal reflections caused by photographing such a bright doohickey. The reflection occurs diametrically opposite the centre of frame from the bright object.
Here's a shot I did a while ago - with the moon rising between trees in a forest, and you can see my green object up to the left. It caused me to look twice, I can tell you! LOL!!
