Been back a few days from VicSouth 2008. Left home on Friday arvo, rained the whole way there until about Nhill, just starting to clear when I got there. Only a few scopes setup by optimists, everyone else was inside at lecture then watching movie. About midnight it cleared and got in a couple of hours.
Next day, trip to Mt Arapiles and checking out smoke from bushfires. Got back to Lodge to buys afew things (telrad, binos, eyepiece etc.) then dinner.
Skys were clearish for Perry's chat but was able to find a few objects and add to my list of Messiers. About 2-30am the skys cleared up beautifuilly but was too tired to really take advantage.
All around a good time, learned a lot by asking and checking out others gear. Food was ahem, a bit average
, but there you go, when looking for dark skies one can't have everything.
