I believe they are sold as "Semi Apos". They are way better than an achromat and probably offer 85% to 90% of the performance of a premium 80MM Triplet APO at 20% to 25% of the price of a triplet. They are also marginally inferior to a 2 element Flourite like the Vixen FL80S. They use a 2 element objective with 1 element being ED glass to reduce chromatic aberration. At that price of $550 probably 1 of the best bargains going at the moment and highly recommended if your looking for an 80mm refractor.
