That's just plain ordinary.

Get it replaced. Pure and simple.

Get on the phone, tell them what's happened and what your expectations are.

If they don't offer to replace it immediately tell them you're willing to take the matter to the Office of Fair Trading.

It's not your problem, Dave.

That's if the damage is enough of a worry to you.
